Reighton Sands Holiday Park

The third Haven campsite in Yorkshire, Reighton Sands, has truly spectacular views across Filey Bay. Below the campsite, through a wooded path lie miles of glorious golden sands. If you are looking for a lazy beach holiday or an action packed activity one, Reighton Sands is a perfect choice. It makes an ideal spot for a family holiday in the summer and for a half term short break in either Spring or Autumn.

There are a number of choices for families wanting to stay at Reighton Sands. First there is touring and camping. The park has 238 tent and electric pitches that are perfect for tourers, motor homes, tents and trailer tents. Each pitch is on gently sloping grass and the electric pitches have a hard standing base. Tent pitches do not Have an electric hook-up. For those of you looking for more creature comforts you can choose from one of the six types of caravan on offer. All come with either two or three bedrooms and have a sofa bed meaning they can accommodate either six or eight family members. With well equipped kitchens and family loo and showers they make a real home from home for your family. Choose between the different grades of caravans with the more expensive ones offering more space and more modern fixtures and fittings.

Facilities & Activities

Seaside holidays are all about swimming but if you prefer your water fresh rather than salt then head for the pools on the park. The indoor pool is heated and has a lazy river which is the perfect way to get around. There is also a series of organised water activities for the kids to enjoy. Lern2Swim is complimentary and for a small charge the kids can take part in Pool Party, Aqua jets and Water Walkerz amongst others.

Other sports activities are also available, all day and every day and include a 9 hole golf course that is set in 140 acres of wonderful Yorkshire countryside. There is also a family pitch and putt that is perfect for introducing little golfers to the game. For something different you can also try out some archery and fencing coaching.  Kids activities include B-Fit sessions, and soft play areas for the under 8s. For Mum and Dad’s delight there are also Kids Clubs. They can get some serious down time when the kids are left to these supervised clubs. Aimed at specific ages the kids get the chance to mix with others of their own ages and try out some great activities. Entertainment is also available morning afternoon and evening. Themed with the kids in mind in the morning and afternoon shows are great fun and perfect if the weather lets you down. Evening entertainment is spectacular, has a distinctly West End feel to it and is aimed squarely at families.

When it comes to food, Reighton Sands offers a great choice. First of course there is your self-catering which is made easy and stress free with the SPAR convenience store on site so you don’t even need to leave the park to stock up. There is also a restaurant, the mash and Barrel that is open for early breakfast, a quick lunch ad for a family meal out. The kids will also love the traditional fish and chip shop. Freshly cooked sustainably caught fish with freshly fried chips, not French fries – proper chips, salt and vinegar and all but you might need to take your own newspaper to wrap them in!

Beyond the park, Yorkshire is steeped in history. The Jorvik Viking Centre is perfect for a little daytime pillaging while a trip to the National Railway Museum in York really gets to the heart of the regions importance as a railway centre. If you are looking for the great outdoors the North York Moors National Park is a perfect place to get away from it all.
