Les Tropiques Campsite Reviews

Overview

Les Tropiques Holiday Park

Les Tropiques is situated in the heart of France’s Catalan area, very close to the border with Spain. Lovely countryside, great beaches and access to some historic towns such as Perpignan make this a great place for a holiday. Early and late season this is a perfect destination for families with young children whilst high season is a teenage a paradise as the activity levels move up a level. With a consistently high 89% approval rating Les Tropiques is a firm favourite time after time.

There are 450 home from home chalets to stay in. Each one is either two or three bedroomed and they all have onboard shower and loo facilities. The comfortable lounges have an extra two sofa beds for the largest families, and one of the bedrooms is a double room. The kitchen is very well equipped and you can organise great family meals outdoors using the patio furniture and barbecue that also come with your chalet.

Onsite

Facilities & Activities at Les Tropiques

There is an animation team at les Tropiques who organise karaoke nights, bingo and aquagym classes and there is a games room to keep the kids amused. The pool complex is especially good – there are five pools altogether. Two children’s pools and one of the family pools has water slides and chutes. The sun desk has lots of space for laying back and working up your tan. Activities wise there’s a long list that includes all the usual suspects such as tennis, basketball, archery and volleyball.

If you want to leave the site trips to local towns such as Canet Plage are a great idea and whilst there track down the Canet Aquarium to meet their dolphins and watch the whale shows.

There are some great choices, food-wise at les Tropiques as well. There is a lovely Mediterranean style restaurant serving great regional specialities alongside a welcome children’s menu. Alongside this there is a snack bar, a take away, where they you can get the plat du jour to go, a creperie and a pizzeria all this and a supermarket where you can do all your self-catering shopping.

I stayed here with my wife and young daughter (5) during peak season, while it was busy it wasn’t over crowded although a small minority of the older kids were a little noisy at night.

The kids clubs were very good and my daughter loved going despite most of the kids being French or Dutch this didn’t cause an issue although the evening entertainment is sometimes biased towards the French and Dutch.

Despite the little things I have mentioned it is a lovely campsite and it wouldn’t be such a bad thing if we returned although I would prefer somewhere with more English people mainly for entertainment purposes.
