Les Peneyrals Reviews

Les Peneyrals Holiday Park

Les Peryrals is a great favourite with many people who keep going back to this pretty site year after year. It is situated in the Dordogne region just a short hop from the Dordogne Rover itself. The park is run by its owners who are very welcoming and run a very well maintained site. You’ll find all the amenities you’ll need including a good reception, a laundry and of course a self catering mini-market. The park is situated in pretty woodlands and has its own lake, you can even fish. This is a small park that is surprisingly lively giving you the best of two worlds and regularly receives a 90% approval rating from guests.

There are just 250 pitches here, all chalets, available between 12th May and 8th September. Your chalets are either two or three bedrooms with between 25m2 and 40m2 of floor space. Each chalet has one double bedroom and at least one twin room with two sofa beds in the living space so there’s ample room for everyone. The private shower and loo are a real bonus as is the kitchen which has everything you’ll need for cooking up a storm. Each chalet comes with a full set of patio furniture and a barbecue and you have the option of outside decking if you wish.

Facilities & Activities at Les Peneyrals

There is a lively entertainments program at Les Peneyrals and the on-site fun starts at the pool complex. There are five pools, one indoor and one for children. There are underwater jets, water mushrooms and a four lane slide to keep you busy as well as sun loungers to sunbathe the day away. On-site you can get involved in archery, cycle hire, mini golf, football, tennis and the very French boules amongst other things.

There’s a good restaurant on site where you can eat traditional French food and where they’re happy to serve a children’s menu for the little ones. There’s also a good pizzeria and a takeaway which are great for ringing the changes and relieving the self-catering strain! The bar, which overlooks the pool, is the centre for a lively evening entertainment programme that includes discos and live music.

Outside the park you should plan to explore the local countryside. The Dordogne valley is one of the prettiest in France and has lots of châteaux and if you are going to visit one then make it the Chateau de Hautefort which is picture post card perfect and has some stunning gardens.

I love this place! We booked through Canvas and stayed in a comfort 2+ mobile, the pitch was nice although a little too shaded for my liking.

The weather was very hot although we had a couple of drizzly days. On the bad days you make use of the indoor heated pool. The entire pool complex is very impressive.

The restaurant and pizzeria are both very nice although we cooked our own food most nights, while the onsite shop sells reasonably priced food I’d recommend taking your own.

We all hope to return to Les Peneyrals in the summer holidays.
