Le Val De Bonnal Reviews

Le Val De Bonnal Holiday Park

Close to the Swiss border and somewhat off the beaten track as far as many Brits are concerned sits the La Val de Bonnal campsite in the Jura region. This camp site is a rural delight with natural lakes close by which are great for swimming and fishing. This medium sized camp site is very popular with sports enthusiasts and families with children of all ages. The site has great amenities including a reception where they speak English, a laundry and of course, access to the internet.

With 300 pitches open from 12th May to 8th September and a choice between chalets or tents there’s accommodation to suit every family.

You can rough it under canvass but tents here are hardly roughing it. Separate bedrooms (two) and ample kitchen and living space you’ll be all set for a great holiday. Each tent also has outside furniture and a barbecue. You can even hire a safari tent, just like those you see in Africa with hardwood floors, decking and patio furniture. This is almost glamping.

If you want something a bit more homely then you can stay in one of the sites chalets. Two or three bedroomed with private shower and loo and a spate kitchen and living area makes for great holiday accommodation. There’s also patio furniture and barbecues outdoors for lovely summer evening family meals.

Facilities & Activities at Le Val De Bonnal

The on-site animation team organise sporting events for the kids and discos for the teenagers giving you the chance of some serious down time. They also organise lively evening entertainment during high season just in case the grown-ups feel left out.

There are great foodie facilities as well. There’s a good snack bar and take away serving all your favourites which is perfect for lunch times and when you don’t feel like cooking in the evening there’s a stylish restaurant that overlooks the river. They’re only open Saturdays and Sundays during May but from 1st June until 31st August it’s full on seven nights a week. Of course, there’s a great little supermarket on site where you can stock up on your self-catering stuff.

There are two great lagoon style pools with the usual waterslides and chutes but the kids are really going to love swimming and playing in the myriad of rivers and lakes that surround Le Val De Bonnal. Sports facilities include table tennis, five-a-side footie and of course boules so go on orgnaise your own Olympic tournament. .

As well as the local towns and villages which are worth seeing just because they are so pretty, look out for the Chateau de Belvoir and the Peugeot Museum of Adventure which is a great trip for anyone who loves cars.

  1. Pete, Mary & Kids

As family we’ve visited various holiday parks across France, but this is by far our kids favourite. The lovely scenery, well presented chalets and wide selection of activities and nearby attractions really do make it one of the best.

The kids clubs are amazing, with something for all ages. As for Jura it is bit out of the way but think of it as an hidden gem.

    Look forward to our return.
