Le Chateau Des Marais Reviews

Le Chateau Des Marais Holiday Park

Set in grounds of Le Chatau Des Marais, a Loire valley manor house, and close to the banks of the Loire river is Le Chateau Des Marais Campsite. With stunning views and lovely grounds this is a place you are bound to be able to relax in. Greeting you is a friendly reception where they’re happy to speak English and where you can get arrange WiFi access. Once arranged you’re off since you can get online from anywhere in the park!

Accommodation comes in a multitude of types here. In fact more types than you can shake a proverbial stick at so let’s try to make it simple.

Tents – two types, safari and classic. They sleep between four and six in two or three separate bedrooms. Living space is also on offer and it is semi open air with the safari tent (yes it’s all in the name!). Kitchen wise you’ll be able to prepare meals but don’t expect to be able to go all five course fine dining. Either choice they are both great fun for that communing with nature feeling. Oh I nearly forgot – the classic tents will all have new internal canvasses this summer.

Chalets – well we could go on forever here but it’s all about bedrooms and outdoor space. Two or three bedroomed chalets all have living and kitchen space with kitchens that are fitted with all your mod cons (ovens, grills, gas hobs and fridge freezers). You can also choose to have outside decking which is just great for summer evenings, sipping a glass of local plonk de plonk and watching the kids using up the last of the days energy.

Facilities & Activities at Le Chateau Des Marais

Onsite activities include a variety of really good sports facilities. These include tennis, five-a-side football, badminton (shuttlecocks not horse trials silly!), volleyball and a gymnasium that is open from 7 May till 15 September. You’ll also find a games room with pool, car racing, pinball, computer games and table soccer for those days when the sun doesn’t shine!

There is a great pool complex at Le Chateau Des Marais. A combination of outdoor and covered pools means you have a pool for all seasons (well not really coz its shut in Winter and Autumn but you know what I mean). Different pools of different sizes and depths are perfect for any member of the family no matter how young they are. There are slides and chutes (high, bendy and a bit too white knuckle for me if you don’t mind) in two of the pools. There’s also a lazy river (what a great name that is) that the kids are gonna just love. If that sounds too much like hard work then worry not, there are plenty of sun loungers for you to use. You’ve even got a spa where you can take a Turkish bath or indulge in a massage – go on, spoil yourself, you’re worth it.

There’s also lots of help with keeping the family entertained. There are three organised children’s clubs, Fun Station, Mini Funstation and Mini Funstation Swimming. Fun station is for all children between 4 and 12 and features such activities as Join the Circus, United Nations, Mission to Mars (can you believe it) whilst the Mini Funstation is for little ones between 6 months and 5 years. You accompany the kids whilst the trained staff organise the activities (sounds like a good gig to me guys). Have a guess what the Mini Funstation Swimming’s all about……yep swimming for little ones. In fact, swimming lessons and courses are on offer. If they can’t swim yet, what a great place for them to learn.

You’re right in the heart of the Loire valley, one of Frances most beautiful areas so do venture out. A visit to the Chateau de Chambord will take your breath away. A fairy tale castle set in the most beautiful grounds it really is well worth a visit. Similarly the Château de Chenonceau (they really knew how to build the odd castle now and then didn’t they) is well worth a visit. The Zoo de Baeuval is one of France’s best zoos and the children will really love the selection of animals on display, pandas, gorillas and rhinos to name but three. Simply put, a great day out for the family.

Holidays, children and food can often be stressful but not here at Les Chateau Des Marais. Your self-catering facilities are really great and an on-site mini market is available for those last minute things you forget. There is also a typical French restaurant offering traditional dishes as well as a child friendly menu. Take away pizza, chicken, chips, sausages, steaks (yes takeaway steaks) and salads are also available. Perfect for lunch when you are staying on site. For those unavoidable thirsts there is also a small bar, close to the swimming pools.
