La Croix Du Vieux Pont Reviews

La Croix Du Vieux Pont Holiday Park

Set in oceans of open space with lovely rural surroundings you would never believe you were less than an hour away from Paris. Easily reached from Calais or any of the channel ports La Croix Du Vieux Pont is situated next to a pretty meandering river. The park has a well staffed and efficiently organised reception where they speak English (breathe a sigh of relief their Dad). The park is also well served with shops, there is a beauty salon as well as a supermarket and minimarket where you can stock up on your regular day to day provisions.

Onsite facilities also include a laundry with 10 washers and 10 dryers with a range of hot showers and dishwashing facilities for those looking to stay under canvass.

Accommodation comes in two forms – tents and chalets. Luxury safari tents give you and your family a perfect opportunity to sample life under canvas. Whilst it’s not exactly glamping these tents are safari tents and a cut above your average canvass. They come with two separate bedrooms sleeping either five or six with hard wood decking throughout the tent. The kitchen area consists of a grill and hob and a fridge which means you are not tied to daily food shopping. With electric lighting wooden dining furniture and of course a barbecue for perfect outdoor meals on the warm evenings, these tents really the ultimate under canvass experience.

If you prefer four walls and a roof there are plenty of options at La Croix Du Vieux Pont. With 521 pitches to choose from this park is all about choice without being overlarge. You can choose from accommodation that sleeps from three people up to six people and ranges in size from 25m2 up to a whopping 39m2. Expect a real home from home experience where comfortable indoors living space includes well equipped kitchens with hobs, grills, ovens and fridges. If Dad’s looking for a break there are also chalets available that have dishwashers built in. Modern bathroom facilities are also found in all chalets and sleeping accommodation will have at least on double bedroom. Chalets also come equipped with barbecues and patio furniture which are perfect for making the most of long warm summer evenings together.

Facilities & Activities at La Croix Du Vieux Pont

The swimming facilities at La Croix Du Vieux Pont are amongst some of the most up to date available on any camp site. There are four pools available to choose from. Three are suitable for all of the family, one is indoor, one is out door and one has a retractable roof. With water slides to keep the older children amused these pools really are the jewel in this camps crown. There is also a smaller, children’s pool, again with a retractable roof that is also smaller and quieter making it perfect for younger children or hose less confident in the water.

For those looking for a more relaxing poolside experience you can head for the spa. Sauna, Jacuzzi and solarium sessions are all easily booked for a reasonable charge while the spa offers balneotherapy and massage treatments.

While on the site you can take part in a wide range of activities that include minigolf, fishing at the parks three lakes for fresh water coarse fish (you will need to buy a permit onsite) as well as sporting activities such as football basketball and boules (why not rustle up a competition amongst other visitors to the site). Offsite you can go horse riding, less than half a km from the gates and windsurfing and kayaking are both less than 15km away.

Local attractions include everything in Paris, it is less than an hour and a half into the centre and Disneyland Paris is reachable using the buses that depart from the park. Slightly further afield is Parc Asterix, an entire theme park devoted to the cartoon character. You are also very close to the Place of Versailles. The home of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette the palace and gardens have been restored to their former glory.

Feeding your family could not be easier with the supermarket on site built for a real French experience take the children to the local market in Vic-sur-Asine, less than 1km away to see food the French way. Remember though – you need to be early as most markets finish trading by lunch time. There is a traditional French restaurant in a converted barn that serves wonderful French cuisine. A children’s menu is also on offer for more conservative little taste buds. Lunch time food on the go can also be found at the local burger joint or for something French, try the creperie that is open all day, every day.

The kids loved it here you’ve got go-karts, trampolines, bouncy castles, pedalos, slides, rivers, splash pools and so much more. The surroundings are spectacular, the rural setting is bliss. We went during peak season and while it was certainly busy it wasn’t over crowded the site is fairly large – my husband also enjoyed going fishing with the boys, a real bonding experience. A trip to paris makes for a great day out, if the kids are well behaved you can even treat them to Disneyland which is about an hour’s drive away, I believe you can buy tickets directly onsite, we pre-booked ours. I (we) look forward to returning to Berny riviere. :)
