Essential Camping Items: You Always Need These 10

  • Camping is a great time to get the family and your friends together, but we all know that if one essential item is missing, the trip can soon turn into a nightmare, especially if you’re miles away from a simple grocery store. Before you head out on your next camping trip, here are 10 essentials that you will definitely want to consider bringing along:
    •  Canopy

There are going to be those days where it’s going to get rather warm. Instead of sitting in the middle of the yard or near a tree swarmed with mosquitoes, consider bringing along a canopy. A canopy is a great way to keep you free from the shade and it’s very simple to set up.

    • Flashlights

No matter how you plan on camping, always bring some sort of flashlight along, just in case of an emergency. You could be telling yourself, “Well, I have an RV and there’s a generator!” You have to remember that your generator could potentially fail! If it did, what would you do?

    • Grill

Cooking over a campfire can be an option, but you have to remember that a fire can only cook so much. Consider purchasing a smaller grill that can fit on top of the picnic table. This little device is a great way to boil a pot of water, cook meats or grill some tasty potatoes.

    • Sleep Mat

For those that plan on sleeping in a tent, don’t forget about the sleeping mat! Many people often think that they have to tote along an air mattress but this doesn’t have to be the case. Sleep mats are easy to roll up, they require no air and can cost less than $50. These mats can help you avoid those jagged rocks at night.

    • Wipes

If you’re only going to be camping for a few days and you want to skip out on the community showers, consider bringing along some wipes that are designed to make you feel refreshed. While they won’t have the same feeling as a shower, they can definitely make you feel a little cleaner.

    • Mesh Bags

Camping with kids can often mean big messes. Dirty shoes, clothes, muddy pants and wet socks can make many people shake their head yes. These kind of bags are reusable, they are thick and they are great to throw these kind of items in for the time being. Simply pack them up, keep them away from the clean items and wash them all when you get home.

    • Bungee Cords

If you plan on washing your clothes on the go, you may want to invest into some bungee cords. These cords are ideal for those who want to line dry their clothes rather than waste electricity in their RV. It’s also ideal for campers that only want to wash their clothes and dry them near their tent when done.

    • Walkie Talkies

Camping with more than one person can often feel like a mess. With walkie talkies, you no longer have to worry about where someone is. Since there’s a good chance that you will only be less than a few miles away, walkie talkies are a great way to communicate.

    • Waterproof Matches

To help prevent your matches from getting wet, it’s ideal to purchase some waterproof matches so that you don’t have to worry about it. That way, if you do accidentally forget your matches outside during the rain, you don’t have to worry about them not working.

    • Hatchet

As our last essential on the list, the hatchet works both as a hammer and an axe. This is great for cutting up branches, hitting tent stakes into the ground or splitting some logs.
