Domaine De Chalain Holiday Park
In the middle of the Jura region the Domain de Chalain campsite sits nestling next to a natural lake and some wonderful woodlands. This makes it a great location for an outdoors, let’s go exploring, type of holiday. This is a large campsite so you should expect it to be lively with things going on all around you. The site has great amenities including a reception, a laundry and good restaurant.
With nearly 712 pitches here there are, as you’d expect, lots of different types of accommodation to choose from. It’s worth mentioning that if you are travelling with friends or family the site will take bookings for neighbouring pitches.
If you really want to go back to nature ten there’s no better way than a tent at Domain De Chalain. Tents have two bedrooms, one double, one twin and a well kitted out kitchen/living area. The kitchen has a double ring and a grill which gets most meals of to a flying start and they also have patio furniture and barbecues for perfect family meals on a summer evening.
If you like your comforts a little more creature then look for a chalet. Either two or three bedroomed, they all have a double bedroom and well laid out comfortable living room with an extra two sofa beds. The well fitted kitchens are supplemented by the barbecue and patio furniture that comes with each chalet.
Facilities & Activities at Domaine De Chalain
There are three superb pools at Domaine De Chalain, one for toddlers and the other two for family use. One of the family pools is indoors which means that on those rare days when the sun doesn’t shine the kids can still swim. As you would expect there is a wide range of sports and activities that includes archery, kayaking on the nearby lake and the usual football, basketball and volleyball.
With direct access to the lake there are plenty of water based activities for you to get involved in and with local town such as Doucier and Lons Le Saunier exploring this part of France is very easy. You’ll also find a bar with a large terrace and pleasant atmosphere. Children are well looked after with regular children’s discos in high season and activities organised by the on-site animation team.
Overlooking the lake, the site has its own restaurant where they serve traditional French food and they also have a takeaway serving burgers, pizza, frites and roast meats.

We visit Domaine De Chalain every year or at least we try. We’ve always booked through Eurocamp and have never had any problems. The mobile homes are spacious, modern and the decking really opens it up to the outside.
We always visited with our two sons and usually one of their school friends. The kids were 11 & 14 when we first went and have always gone off and done their own thing, playing in the lake or playing football against the Dutch and French kids – the games are usually organised by the animation team, it is a great atmosphere.
My wife and I preferred to relax with a glass of wine on the decking but the kids usually went to the disco or just socialised with others their age onsite.
The Jura is lovely for bike riding and walking and the nearby small villages are the real France, don’t be afraid to visit them.
We often cooked our own food using the BBQ although the kids loved the onsite pizzeria.
A great site with an amazing natural lake, we just love it here.
