Les Alicourts Reviews

Les Alicourts Holiday Park

If you are looking to holiday in the Loire valley then Alicourts really has to be at the top of your list of potential camp sites. Whether you are looking for a quality camp site, excellent facilities or a site that has a knockout position making it great for exploring the area Alicourts ticks all the boxes. The site nestles in the middle of a peaceful pine forest, on the sides of a large lake and has its own Baleno health spa right on site. You can even shop on-site in the mini-market for all your food stuffs, in the shop for your holiday goodies (sunscreen, postcards, that sort of thing) and the Boutique (closed between 1300 and 1400 – how French is that). There is also a whole raft of additional facilities including laundry, internet, WiFi and there is even a small library.

Its chalets all the way at Alicourts and with more than 400 pitches there’s lots of variety. Having said that the variety is all about space. Facilities are remarkably similar across the Alicourts range.

Your chalet can have either two or three bedrooms and between 25m2 and 34m2 of floor space. There is one double bedroom and the remainder are twins. Each chalet comes with its own private shower and loo as well as a separate living and kitchen area. The living area will have space to two further sofa beds. The kitchen has everything you need to feed a family including oven, gas hob, and microwave and a fridge freezer. There is also a barbecue provided and you can book a chalet with decking and patio furniture if you really want to make summer evening meals a special occasion.

Facilities & Activities at Alicourts

You’re in France so expect good food and the restaurant here certainly delivers. It’s quite large and serves well prepared local dishes. There’s also a very popular children’s menu. If you are staying on the site during the day there’s a great take-away.

Alicourts has some of the best swimming facilities around. Firstly the lake, crystal clear and with its own sandy beach is very popular. There are also four pools one of which is a toddler’s pool. You’ll also find slides, chutes, water fountains and wave machines – in fact as many features as you’d find in most dedicated water parks. There is also the Baleno Health Spa with its own indoor pool surrounded by lagoons and beaches. For a small fee, grown-ups get access to this fantastic spa centre with its Jacuzzi, Turkish bath and long list of treatments. If you’re looking for other activities on site it’s probably quicker to ask what can’t you do but the list does include canoeing, pedalos, tennis, basketball, and of course boules.

Evening entertainment is great as well. Family and children’s discos organised regularly from 27th April to 7th September. They are organised in the large bar that overlooks the lake.

You can also hire cycles at Alicourts which is great for exploring the local area. Locally there’s lots to do and plenty to see. First – track down one of the local markets to see food shopping French style. Get there early – it really is worth it. Other places of interest include Tours which is a pretty medieval town and Orleans which is where Joan of Arc came from. Other local attractions include the Museum of Sorcery and Chateau de Chambord which makes Downton Abbey look a bit dull and Futuroscope which is a fantastic theme park and really does deserve a visit.

Five Reasons to Book a Family Holiday to Alicourts

  • Water sports on the lake

Review Overview

A large site based in Loire with a lively atmosphere and extensive facilities.

This site is all about the kids, the staff really put on a good show to keep them entertained. For the older kids you’ve got great facilities such as tennis and basketball not forgetting the swimming pool and lake.

The local area is pretty quiet so if you want to see attractions offsite you really need a car.

We had a great family holiday wish we could have stayed longer, I’ve give it 4 stars because of it’s isolated location.
